High Functioning Anxiety is sabotaging your goals!

Anxiety presents itself in multiple ways and high functioning is the sneakiest and secret-iest of all because you are going about your life and business just like everyone else…or so it appears like that…on the outside.

You experience overwhelming decision paralysis- You have some options to choose from and you physically CANNOT decide which place to start so you spend all this time debating back and forth while actually NOT doing anything except exhausting your mind. So you decide doing nothing is easier but then in doing that nothing you experience this feeling of guilt and anxiety because you feel you SHOULD be doing something, and yet…you cannot.

You struggle to go or do something you’ve never done before- Someone suggests you try a place out, a store/restaurant/park, anywhere and you REALLY WANT to go but you’ve never been there before and because you don’t know what to expect or say, where to park, you don’t go. You keep telling yourself you’re going to go but continue to put it off. You simply don’t like the unknown of the situation. This is the same for taking action on new things (even watching new shows).

You constantly are playing/replaying mental movies of conversations and situations you had, going to have, never had- This constant movie playing has a sense of unease wrapped around it. You are fearful/nervous about what the other person is thinking about this conversation, how they are feeling. You are worried you upset them, they didn’t like what you said or gave them (even if it hasn’t taken place yet). So you often hold yourself back, censoring yourself from your ideas, creations…your goals.

It’s that you haven’t learned how to work and reframe your anxiety in a way that allows you to keep moving forward, breaking those plateaus you’ve been stuck at. This goes for EVERYTHING- financial, educational, physical, business, personal- high functioning anxiety can and will sabotage your efforts towards any goals and the area it picks usually revolves around your MINDSET and perception within that life area.
